Instant Gratification and Validation

So at our last meeting we discussed "Instant Gratification and Validation". You all will agree that the conveners did an excellent job in delivering some wonderful nuggets for everyday living. We learnt that although being validated by our friends and circle of influence is good from time to time, we should seek God's validation at all times. We also learnt that patience is a vital tool in our journey of faith. It was quite interesting to hear the opinions, personal trials and successes of the people who were blessed to share with us.
We live in a world were we want everything "NOW", but we will not always have all we want when we want it.
Heb 11:1 tells us "Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it"(NCV).
Let the image speak wisdom to your hearts as we dialogue.

Saint's Cafe: July Edition .. Great Praise and Worship Experience

May God bless all of those who were able to attend Saint's Cafe, on July 12, and those who wanted to come but were unable. It was a great blessings and time of fellowship and worship through artistic expression. From music, to singing, to spoken word, scripture readings and testimonies, the Lord was definitely present in the atmosphere that night and was glorified.
We as URS would like to take time to thank everyone who came and participated as well as those that were instrumental in making this vision a reality. We will post the picks here AT THE BLOG! when we get them... so be on the on the lookout.
The next one is Sept 12th and we look forward to seeing new and returning faces out to partake in this new praise and worship experience and relax in this sanctified environment.
Be Blessed in all that you do.
God's Truth & Satan's Lies

If you were able to make it to the URS fellowship on Jun 28th I hope that you were blessed and edified with the word of the Lord. The discussion topic was "Your True Source of Usefulness and Value... Self Esteem". I think our leaders did a wonderful job of sharing with us a glimpse of what the Word has to say concerning this subject. Also the discussion that followed really explored the topic and helped to cement some of the ideas expressed pertaining to self value and self esteem. We want to thank everyone that participated in the discussion to help us as a fellowship grow in Christ and I encourage you to keep the conversation going here on the blog with your comments!
We also ended with an activity where we asked everyone present to participate. We know as we grow stronger in our walk with Christ the enemy attacks become stronger as well. With this in mind URS initiated "God's Truth and Satan's Lies", in this activity spanning a month ( the time until our next fellowship) we passed out notecards, one side presenting God's truth and the other satan's lie pertaining to an attack the enemy may use. We asked that participants would carry these cards with them daily a refer to them at any point they felt and attack of the enemy or needed a spiritual pick-me-up. We provided 5 cards and a handout of more scripture references that can be made into additional cards as well. The plan is to check in at our next fellowship on July 26 to find out how the activity helped, if at all, during the time.
I look forward to your presence at Saint's cafe and pray you will continue to be edified by His word.

THE P-6 RULE
A preacher, back in the day, had preached a sermon with the title above. For a while, he kept on emphasizing on how people make New Year resolutions, how pumped up and excited they get on New Year’s Day. They have this vision of innumerable achievements and how all they have resolved to do will make their life better. He went on to state that some people stick to their resolutions and follow it tenaciously to the end. For most, he noted sadly, they fall short in the second week of the second month. That he said was where he had a problem with resolutions.
Most people make resolutions to serve as a guide for the New Year. Others make resolutions to look and sound organized. And then there are a few who make resolutions because their friend made one; to each his own.
One point of the message on that faithful day was that, people who make resolutions often do not have a plan to execute. They meet with challenges and obstacles along they way and have no motivation or back up plan. They just run along till the gas tank is empty.
Did you make a resolution this year? Do you have a plan b, plan c and plan d just in case you are faced with a challenge and have not the courage to move on?
The crux of the matter is this; failing to plan is planning to fail. The p-6 rule states “Proper Prayerful Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.”
May God guide us all this year.
